Special-Purpose Acquisition Companies or SPACs for short, are corporations that are listed on the Stock Exchange for the express purpose of acquiring a private company in order to help it go public without an IPO.
They have been drawing massive attention, with more than $83 billion USD raised in 2020 across 248 SPACs.
However, just a few weeks ago, the SEC started cracking down on these blank-check companies, performing informal inquiries and offering guidance, dampening the hype.

Prior to Zilingo, Billy has spent 18 years in finance with Morgan Stanley (London & HK) and Credit Suisse (HK) where he ran Hedge Fund Sales and started the Technology Sales Desk. He advised some of the largest money managers in Asia on their investments in Tech. Raised private capital and running point on tech IPOs.
Billy has extensive SPAC experience. He was on the team that distributed IPOA - Chamath's first SPAC whilst at CS as well part of the management team of Vistas Media (VMAC) SPAC, which bought Anghami, the Spotify of the Middle East for $280mln where he led all capital markets and company facing functions. He is currently advising 3 other large SPAC groups and 4 startups on how to navigate the SPAC and IPO landscape.
